Before you start
- Install OBS Studio and create the scene you will use for the game.
- Create or open an OmniScore board for your sport.
- Prepare the team names, colors, and scoring controls before the broadcast starts.
Steps
- 1
Open the OmniScore Viewer page
From your board, open or copy the Viewer link. This is the public display page for the scoreboard.
- 2
Add a browser source in OBS
In OBS, add a new Browser Source to your scene and paste the Viewer URL into the URL field.
- 3
Set the source size
Use 1920 by 1080 for a full HD scene, or start with your canvas size and crop the source if you only want a compact scorebug.
- 4
Position the overlay
Place the scoreboard where it does not cover the key action. For basketball, top corners and lower-third layouts are usually easiest to read.
- 5
Update the score from another device
Use the Owner Console or Shared Control link on a phone, tablet, or laptop. OBS will update as the Viewer page receives live changes.
- 6
Run a short test
Change the score, clock, and team names before going live so the production computer and scorer both confirm the workflow.
Troubleshooting
- If the overlay looks stale, refresh the OBS browser source before the event.
- If the scoreboard is too large, reduce the browser source size or crop it in OBS.
- If the scorer cannot update the board, confirm they have the Shared Control link rather than the Viewer link.
- If text is hard to read, simplify the scene behind the scoreboard or increase scoreboard contrast in the board settings.
FAQ
Can I update the score without touching OBS?
Yes. Put the Viewer link in OBS and update the board from the Owner Console or Shared Control link on another device.
Should I use the control link as the OBS browser source?
No. OBS should use the Viewer link. Control links are for scorekeepers and board owners.
